Enhancing cooperation in tourist exchanges between Vietnam and Azerbaijan

On the afternoon of September 8th, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration Nguyen Thi Hoa Mai welcomed Mr. Florian Sengstschmid, the Chief Executive Officer of the Azerbaijan Tourism Agency, to discuss promoting tourist exchanges between the two countries.

At the meeting, Mr. Florian Sengstschmid sincerely thanked Deputy Director Nguyen Thi Hoa Mai for attending and speaking at the seminar introducing tourism in Azerbaijan held in Hanoi this morning.The delegation of the Azerbaijan Tourism Agency comes to Vietnam this time with the desire to promote and advertise the tourism potential of Azerbaijan to the Vietnamese people. The delegation, along with Azerbaijani tourism and hotel businesses, participated in the International Travel Fair ITE HCMC 2025 held in Ho Chi Minh City in early September.He shared that Vietnam is a favored destination for Azerbaijani people, particularly its summer beaches with attractive destinations such as Hue, Hoi An, Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Phu Quoc… Azerbaijani people have a long holiday in March and usually take a family trip lasting from 10 days to 2 weeks during this time. Currently, there is no direct flight connection, so the number of Azerbaijani tourists visiting Vietnam remains modest.

Welcoming the delegation from the Azerbaijan Tourism Agency to Vietnam, Deputy Director Nguyen Thi Hoa Mai acknowledged that the potential for tourist exchange between the two countries is still very large and agreed with Azerbaijan’s proposals to establish cooperative relations between the two national tourism management agencies, creating opportunities for businesses from both sides to connect. Deputy Director Nguyen Thi Hoa Mai tasked the specialized unit of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration to coordinate and organize a business connection program for the two countries as soon as possible.

Both countries have implemented an electronic visa policy for each other with a stay duration of up to 90 days. This is a favorable condition to promote the exchange of visitors. Most recently, in August 2025, the leaders of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration and the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Vietnam had a meeting to discuss measures to promote tourism cooperation. Both sides also encouraged tourism businesses to participate in the international tourism fairs organized by each side, such as the Azerbaijan Tourism and Travel Fair, Baku Tourism Fair; ITE HCMC Fair, VITM Fair in Vietnam.
